Outline for a Story Submission
I am so looking forward to receiving your stories! Please don’t be nervous about writing them down. It is relatively easy. Here is a very simple outline to get you started.
Using the first person “I” is a good way to start. You know how you feel, think and see things; but it is very difficult to actually know what others are thinking, feeling or experiencing. That is why it is best to come from the “I” and simply report what others did, said, or how they looked. After all, this is your story.
- What was the insight or main event?
- "I was worrying over nothing"
- "The day the dog ran away."
- “The day my child taught me to laugh.”
- “I realized I just didn’t care that much after all.”
- Events/worries prior to the realization
- I was hoping to have this happen or accomplish that
- This was important because...
- I had been working on that for...
- My worries and concerns:
- This would happen or that wouldn't happen
- Maybe this would happen or that wouldn't happen
- My plans for making this happen:
- I tried to do...
- Wanted someone else to do...
- I worried and schemed for this to...
- My expectations of how this would turn out:
- I would feel, have, accomplish...
- Others would feel, have accomplish...
- What really happened?
- What were actions or events that occurred or didn't occur
- How did I feel, react, think about what happened?
- How did others appear or report to feel about what happened?
- What was revealed to me, to others, to no one?
- Give it a title:
Yup, the title always comes last! Here are some title ideas for the beginning ideas in A. - The pay raise request that didn't raise an eyebrow
- The dog that made me run away
- A child's tears can mean many things
- The BIG question was a BIG nothing
OK. Give this a try! There in NO WRONG WAY TO DO THIS!
I will give you help and feedback if you like. Just ask!
